Propolis - the natural protection of the hive
Propolis (also called bee glue) is a natural, resinous product produced by bees that serves as a disinfectant and sealer in the hive. It is extremely rich in bioactive compounds, resins, balsams, essential oils, flavonoids, phenolic acids and has been used for millennia as a powerful natural remedy for improving health.
Here are the main characteristics of propolis:
-Bees collect resins from the buds of trees (poplar, birch, conifer, etc.) and enrich them with wax, pollen and their own enzymes.
-Composition:Propolis contains about 50% resins, 30% wax, 10% essential oils, 5% pollen and other organic compounds. Its main active ingredient is flavonoids.
-Properties:Has strong antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
Application:
-Natural medicine: used for colds, laryngitis, pharyngitis , oral problems, colitis, gastritis and ulcers.
